Why The Callaway X-Hot Irons?

The Callaway X Hot Irons have been around since 2013, but this does not mean that they are lack in any way. They are still some of the best game improvement irons on the market.

These are definitely targeted for beginner golfers and high handicappers. For better players you should be looking at other irons that can give you the freedom that mid to low handicappers need. These are not great for shot shaping and for people who want to put a lot of spin on the ball.

The irons still include features that are in new irons on the market which is what makes them great for beginner iron shots.

Callaway X Hot Irons Features

  • Large Sweet Spot

  • A Consistent & Dynamic Feel

  • A Thicker Top Line

These game improvement irons are some of the most forgiving irons Callaway Golf have created, still to this date they are at the top of most people forgiving iron list and a set of golf equipment that if your just starting out you don't want to miss.

They Usually come with Project X Steel Shafts but as these irons are not produced anymore you may find that someone has put aftermarket golf shafts on them. The beauty of this is you can use whichever golf shaft you like, whether that be graphite shafts or any type of steel shaft.

The Project X Shafts are mid weight and help with distance control but also help with a higher launch angle. They are a great golf shaft which can be good for any skill level golfer.

So, lets really get into what make these irons great for the newer golfer.

Pro's

  • Fair Value

  • Accurate And Forgiving

  • High Quality Project X Golf Shafts

  • Good Distance Control

  • Very Easy To Hit

Con's

  • Can Sound A Bit Clunky

  • Don't Hit As Long As Other Irons

  • Hard To Feel If You Have Struck The Ball Well Or Not

Look And Feel

The large sweet spot which is featured on all of the golf irons, your longer irons and your short irons helps beginner golfers to hit the ball consistently and will help to get them straighter. This is a benefit for any mis-hits or off-centre strike that may creep into your golf game.

These golf irons do have a great feel, but with all the new products coming onto the market Callaway can definitely do with improving this. Sometimes it can be difficult to tell whether the golf ball has been struck well or not. Which can be annoying if you’re all about the feel of your clubs.

You won't get a great sound of these irons but it won't be horrendous. It will almost feel a bit clunky, but this is just all the features working to keep your straight shots and your consistent distance in play. You will definitely want to get straight onto the golf course to keep going with these golf irons because your shots will never be straighter.

Distance

Distance is a big factor when it comes to golf clubs and sets of irons are no different. The Callaway Engineers have managed to include features which will help to improve the forgiveness of these clubs as well as helping with distance. This is usually difficult for club manufacturers; higher ball speeds are not usually present in forgiving clubs with stronger lofts.

Another great feature that the Callaway X Hot irons have is the speed frame face technology. This help by providing explosive distance from the face technology and with a higher swing speed you can really push your long distance from your irons. Creating a new standard for the distance of your golf clubs.

Unfortunately, this was innovative technology back in 2013 was an absolute game changer for beginner players. Now newer models include this technology and more which may be a better fit for you take a look at some below.

Forgiveness

The biggest factor in whether a set of golf irons is good for a beginner is the ability to be forgiving. This is especially helpful for the longest irons, The deep undercut cavity which is featured on the hot pro irons is great for the average golfer.

It helps with any off-centre shots, or any mis hit strikes by keeping the ball flight on a good trajectory while also maintaining maximum distance.

Due to the forgiveness of these clubs, they will not be beneficial for mid to low handicapper golfers. Any shot shaping such as a fade or a draw is not quite possible with these clubs. Due to the forgiving design these clubs are almost self-correcting, meaning if you hit it off centre the clubs help to bring it back straightish negating any shot shaping capabilities. If that’s the case you’re looking at the wrong set of irons and need to look elsewhere.

These will help beginner golfers hit consistent shots and your golf balls won't know what’s hit them.

So, in terms of forgiveness these clubs are excellent, a lot of the features on the Callaway X Hot Irons help with this and any mis hits will not be as bad as they sound. If you’re looking for more out of your irons in terms of shot shaping and putting spin on the golf ball then we believe these are not for you.

Our Verdict

So, all in all the Callaway X Hot Iron Set are great clubs for any beginner or high handicapper golfer. Due to the forgiveness these clubs offer it will make a great addition to anyone’s golf bags and the fact that these golf clubs will help you out when you’ve managed to hit a duff shot or a mis hit. You will start to see a big difference in your iron game if you do not hit consistent golf shots.

As well as the forgiveness you have with these clubs you are also maximising your distance due to the cavity of the club and the speed frame face technology. Giving you explosive impact on any iron shot you may play.

We believe if you are using an older or lesser featured set of irons then you will benefit from these new clubs. Helping with both long irons and short irons play. Hitting more consistent shots then your previous model,
